Johnny B. Truant, the big brain behind The Internet Made Awesome, and frequent guest blogger for A-list sites like Copyblogger, IttyBiz, Problogger, and Project Mojave, recently interviewed me for his Badass Project. Check out our conversation and visit the project’s site, a place about living without excuses.

I am still not completely comfortable sharing my story. At the worst point in my life, I used substances to blanket my feelings. I understand now that I didn’t want to see that it was not my disability that was holding me back, it was my own behaviors. Not an easy pill to swallow.

Seeing how well I had screwed up my life was strangely very useful to me. If I could turn my life into a white-hot mess, I could also make it into anything else I might want it to be. Anything. And that’s exactly what I’ve been doing, creating my life! It has not been a cake walk by any stretch of the imagination, but even the most painful moments have been better than hiding out in the excuses. You can do this too, you can create whatever it is you want to make of your life. It’s not easy but it is wonderful! I hope the interview brings a bit of your own Badass to the surface.
